Glory Yew has many photos in SabahSongs. He has a lot of beautiful images of musicians, and he’s very generous with his work.
I was thrilled when he shot the Scrolls Chamber Orchestra performing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with such elegance, and captured the somber beauty of my friend Sophie deep in concentration, before she began her Winter solos.
We didn’t actually meet until Mike and I went to Syn Lee kopi tiam in Towering for breakfast one day, and Glory was sitting there with a friend. He stood up, introduced himself and we all shook hands. We’ve been running into him ever since.
We saw him recently at the waterfront with a big group of keen, young people with expensive cameras. They were his students photographing a male model, with the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park a backdrop to the model’s nonchalant pouts and spiky hair. 😀
